At Discovery KJ, we’re diving into a big project: crafting a large batch of windows in Accoya wood for a charming cottage. Our bespoke joinery in Herefordshire shines in jobs like this, where we pair durable Accoya with slimline double glazing for a sleek, energy-efficient finish. Here’s a peek at how we’re bringing these windows to life.

From Wood to Windows

It all starts with a stack of Accoya wood—raw potential for our traditional joinery in Herefordshire. We chop it into components, then send them through the planer thicknesser to smooth every surface. Next, the spindle moulder and morticer shape them—sometimes multiple passes—until they’re ready for assembly. Precision is key in our joinery in Shropshire projects too, ensuring every piece fits perfectly.

Building the Frames

Now, we assemble the components into window frames and lights. Each piece is numbered, so we know exactly which light pairs with which frame—a trick we use in oak joinery in Worcestershire to keep things seamless. Once together, we rough out hinge rebates, attach cills, and prep them for painting.
